Pro Bowl Trip Day 1 - Feb 4

I left for Sea Tac airport at 5am for my 8am flight to Hawaii.  While at the airport, I met a couple from Moloka’i.  Mr and Mrs Lester, they told me that they were coming back from their son Ikaika Lester’s championship baseball ring ceremony for Lewis and Clark State. They won the 2007 Avista-NAIA World Series. Ikaika Lester is a senior infielder for Lewis and Clark State from Kaunakakai, Hawaii.  He was named to the 2007 Avista NAIA World Series All Tournament Team.

It was also great talking to them about Moloka’i’s, Kalaupapa. Mr. Lester is one of the supervisor’s at the Leprosy Colony at Kalaupapa.   Visitors to Kalaupapa need to have a permit or a sponsor from a resident to visit.

Once I arrived in Hawai’i, I made the mad dash to Zippy’s for my ZipPac.   That was soo “Ono”.  Then it was off to the Hilton Hawaiian Village to sign in and pick up our media credentials.  There I met our good friend Tak Makita who had just flew in from Arizona, where he was photographing the SuperBowl.

Then it was off to Tsukiji’s at Ala Moana Shopping Center for dinner.  The food there was good but the selection of sushi wasn’t as great as I expected.  But, the Lilikoi Ribs and the Tempura was great.  Needless to say, I ate to I was ready to sleep.
